The Cory
Golis
/
Anchor House
Scholarship Fund - Purpose
of the Program
The Cory Golis / Anchor
House Scholarship Fund is
awarded yearly to one or
more graduating high school
seniors or recent graduates.
The purpose is to provide
financial support and
encouragement to students
entering
a 2 or 4 year college or
university, technical or
trade school. It gives
precedence to those who are
planning a career in the
fields of counseling,
theology, or teaching. The
program also considers
academic achievement,
participation in
extracurricular activities,
financial need, and the
ability of the applicant to
overcome insurmountable
obstacles for the candidate
to be considered for
acceptance. The applicant
must fill out an application
which includes a personal
statement, and two
statements / letters of
recommendation. The program,
furthermore, gives
precedence to, but is
certainly not limited to,
the following:
•
Individuals who have been
clients of Anchor House or
any
of its facilities.
•
Persons who have volunteered
at Anchor House or any
of
its facilities.
•
Individuals recommended by
the Anchor House
management
or staff
•
Individuals recommended by
the selection committee.
Aid may be granted to a
candidate for more than one
year based upon continued
eligibility.
The scholarship committee is
composed of members of the
Anchor House committee and /
or management and / or
staff, one or more members
of the Golis family, and
anyone else accepted by the
committee as volunteers.
Proceeds for distribution
are from the previous year’s
interest / dividends; it is
the committee’s desire not
to
affect the principal.
